“Staff work well with partner agencies to ensure young people's individual complex needs are very well met. Partner agencies speak very highly of the quality of care provided. For example, comments include; ‘This is a beacon service’, ‘I would recommend this home and would not hesitate to place another child there in the future’, and ‘They provide an excellent service and I would recommend the respite unit.”

“The quality of care is outstanding because the home provides a superior service to young people. There is consistent strong and clear leadership in the home. Managers lead by example and refuse to allow mediocre support for young people from themselves, their staff or their partner agencies. Managers continually explore areas in which to drive improvement. Continuous effort is put into giving young people the best chances in all aspects of health, education and social development.”

“Our daughter is very well looked after, this is the first time that I can sleep without worry knowing that she is being well cared for by staff that really care with a homely environment. Our daughter has been to a couple of other respite homes but Seaside Cottage “knocks the socks” off them both with the love and care they give-100%.”

“We are delighted that our son is able to access the services of Seaside Cottage. He is non-verbal autistic with complex and unpredictable epilepsy, severe learning disabilities and mobility problems. We obviously have great concerns leaving him anywhere, however the staff have gone out of their way to make him feel at home and to give us confidence in their skills. The outcome is that our son is happy, safe and well cared for and the rest of our family are able to take a much needed break. This is a much needed service in the community”

Feedback to Ofsted May 09

“I want to thank you for all your help and support in providing short breaks for 2 families under my care this year. They highlighted in their recent care package reviews that the care their child received whilst at Seaside Cottage was first class and of a high standard.

Both the families have children with very complex health care needs and were at crisis point. The families felt that while they themselves were having a short break from delivering care, their child was also on a 'holiday' during their stay at Seaside Cottage in a very friendly environment with appropriately trained staff. The families also liked that they could come and visit and have trial sessions where appropriate and appreciated the managers home visits before the planned stay. I personally would like to thank you for your efficiency in responding to urgent requests. I will recommend you for short break care in the future to families within my service where possible and look forward to working with you again.”

"I have found the service provided by the staff at Seaside Cottage to be exemplary. They respect my client and his needs and he has flourished since he started in November 2008. They always maintain excellent communication with professionals and family members. I am very impressed with the level of care, compassion and understanding that Sarah Crow and Amanda Owen show my client and the high calibre of skills shown by their staff team. They can cater for children of a young age with complex needs and a service of this professional nature should be highly valued".
