Welcome to Driftwood Lodge

Following excessive demand for places and the need for more spacious bedrooms we have acquired a new premises, Driftwood Lodge, in Woodrows Lane Clacton-on-sea, that will provide a lovely environment for the foreseeable future for the children and young people who stay with us.

Driftwood Lodge opened November 2017 and is dually registered with both Ofsted and The Care Quality Commission which makes us a unique service in the South of England.

We specialise in providing short breaks, step down services between hospital and home as well as long-term residential placements for children and young people with complex care needs.

Sarah Crow and Amanda Owen are the registered owner's / directors, both experienced sick children's nurses who have worked within paediatric nursing at a senior level. Between them they have over sixty years of experience both in the acute hospital sector and in the community, nursing children in their own homes and more recently 10 years establishing this service which was judged as a ‘Beacon Service’ by Ofsted.

The home can provide placements for a maximum of 5 children and/or young people at any time thus maintaining the ability to provide a homely environment for short-term breaks. We are able to accommodate ambulant and non-ambulant children/young people with a wide range of complex needs where high levels of intervention are required. Care will be planned, managed and overseen by experienced sick children's nurses, and designed to meet the needs of each individual child/young person and their family.
